Sprouts Story
Hi! I am so glad you’re here. My name is Lauren Micallef, Certified and Licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant and Founder/CEO of Sprout Pediatric Therapy, LLC. It was in 2018 when I found a love for the field of Occupational Therapy after a long PICU stay with my first born son, Bentley. With not much to do within the walls of a hospital room, I began to pay close attention to those working around us. I noticed a child in the room across the hall receiving therapy and I asked our nurse what they were doing. That moment led me down a rabbit hole researching the ins-and-outs of the field. From that point on, I knew Occupational Therapy was what I was meant to do.
One thing led to another and here I am six years, two degrees, and three kids later living out my dream of being an occupational therapy practitioner. Although my goal was always to open up a pediatric clinic of my own, I began my career in outpatient pediatrics until I was blessed with a school-based occupational therapy position where I’ve been since 2022. While I love the school-based setting, the students, colleagues, and schedule while having children of my own, my OT heart was craving something more.
Conversation after conversation with those in my community, I began to realize how big a need occupational therapy and other related services truly were to the pediatric population around me. I knew I couldn’t wait any longer for my “one day” dream. I knew my dream had to come alive now.
I began to wonder about all the “what-ifs” of how I could help these families to get their children the assistance and support they need. With the persistent support of my dream and unfailing faith my husband had in me to make my dream a reality, Sprout Pediatric Therapy was created in July of 2024.
I am extremely excited and feel very blessed to be able to give back to my community and service this population of children that I hold near and dear to my heart! I can't wait to be a part of your story as you become a part of mine.
